Willy.
This problem is very common. The only practial way to prevent drive-off's is to run the location on a prepay basis.
Some card reader keypads are set up for "Force Pay". This means that the customer must tell the pump whether he intends to pay "outside credit" or "inside cash or credit". If the system is set up properly and the customer presses the "pay inside" button, the display should prompt him to "Please See Attendent". The attendent then collects a pre paid amount and programs the sale into the system. Fuel is dispensed and the pumps shuts off automaticly at the pre paid amount.
Short of putting an armed guard on the island, this is the only way to prevent drive off's.

Best of luck,
Byron
